A number of Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) district secretaries and officials from party headquarters have reportedly been summoned by the party secretary general’s office to explain their relationships with the former Prime Minister, Mr Edward Lowassa.
Some of the district secretaries were quizzed
yesterday by the secretary general, Mr Abdulrahman Kinana. However, Mr
Kinana could not be reached to confirm the reports. The CCM ideology and
publicity secretary, Mr Nape Nnauye, also denied the reports when he
was asked yesterday.
But some of those close to people who were quizzed
confirmed that all those who were summoned and quizzed were asked about
their close relations with Mr Lowassa, who was also questioned by the
CCM ethics sub committee over reports of stating presidential nomination
campaigns prematurely. The secretaries have been summoned only days
after the committee questioned six prominent cadres.
